Restaurant City has just been updated! The theme this week as I am sure you can guess of the title of the blog, is Rock! Not as in the stone, but as in the music!
In addition to the new items that will be released on Thursday at midnight in the GMT timezone, we have also added some new things to the game this week, I hope you´ll the changes the team have made for you!

Do you find it difficult to know what friends on your friends list are new to the game? Are you finding it difficult to know who you have visited to get a first-visit-ingredient? Well, no more! You will now see a tag of New! for friends you have not visited before. This makes it easier to know who are new on your friendslist and who you need to visit to get a free ingredient!
The recipe sorting changed a few weeks back, now it has changed again! Tutorial recipes now displays first. It will then show you limited recipes sorted by expiry time. Then it will display the new recipes and finally the remainder of recipes are sorted by the order of when they were added to the game. I understand this is a bit confusing with all these changes, but we hope this latest tweak to the recipes will make it easier to use and easier to understand how the recipes are sorted!
You will also notice that the ingredient rarity calculation have changed. So, the ingredient rarity are now calculated based on the in-game scarcity as well as the approximate usage in dishes. You will also know that the Playfish Cash price for the ingredients are determined by the rarity rating, which means that the lower-rarity ingredients are the cheapest to buy.
- 5 stars: Cheese, Vanilla, Egg, Cream, Flour, Strawberry, Beef, Rice, Salad, Sugar, Milk, Potato (8 Playfish Cash)
- 4 stars: Pork, Garlic, Chocolate, Bayleaf, Coffee, Beans, Tea, Leaves, Water, Coriander, Tomato, Bread, Chili, Saffron, Wasabi (7 Playfish Cash)
- 3 stars: Chicken, Prawn, Lemon, Oregano, Mango, Ice Cream, Ginger, Basil, Lime, Sausage, Butter (6 Playfish Cash)
- 2 stars: Leek, Lobster, Onion, Ice, Pasta, Sweetcorn, Lamb, Peas, Tuna, Pomegranate, Mushroom, Noodles (5 Playfish Cash)
- 1 star: Tofu, Banana, Peach, Kiwi, Apple, Turkey, Pumpkin, Raisins, Carrot, Dragon, Fruit, Orange, Bacon, Pepperoni, Beans (4 Playfish Cash)

I mentioned in the forum before the weekend that new free gifts would “soon” become available. Some of you were asking what “soon” meant. Well, the free gifts are now here for you to send to your friends!
There are two different categories for the free gifts that you can send to friends: Employee Food or Decorative Items. The employee foods and Decorative item categories are self explanatory, so I won´t dwell on the details. And also, for each gift your friends accept, you will get a mystery item! So it´s an all-round good deal to send gifts! Note that the Decorative items are exclusive to the free gifts feature and that they cannot be purchased in the stores! You will see a full list of the items that are available to send as free gifts alongside the items that will appear on Thursdays! The twist is, you can start sending the decorative items for the Rock theme already today!
Note also that some of these gifts are level-gated that means that in order for you to send some of the free gifts, you need to be at a certain level.

This week there are also two new permanent additions to the recipes that you can learn. The Monster Burger for Main Course, which by the way uses no less that two beef, I am sure this burger is not for those picky eaters! And then there is the new Starter dish, the Mega Nachos.

Is your avatar searching for his/her inner rock star? This week you can create a Restaurant that will help unleash the musical side of life! Music is a popular trend right now and you can with help of the ites that will be available at Midnight GMT on Thursday create the ultimate rock´n´roll themed restaurant!
As for the item releases, this means that if you are in London, you will get the items at Midnight on Thursdays, if you are in Los Angeles, you will get the items at 4pm on Wednesdays, if you are in New York, you will get the items at 7pm on Wednesdays and if you are in Hong Kong, you will get the items at 8am on Thursdays. These are all local converted times, to convert the time from where you live, you can use this timezone converter.
Okay, so for the inside of your restaurant this week there will be some great items available! You definitely need to check out the animated Stage Lights and the Stage Lights Column, these two items look fantastic on their own, but if you theme them up with the Rock Star Table (only available through free gift), the Drumset and the Electric Guitar, you are definitely at the starting point of creating something truly special!
And make sure you do not miss out on the Music Note or the DJ Stove. The DJ Stove will help your chefs cook their food 5% faster, while the Music Note will spawn music notes inside your restaurant, the more Music Notes you have, the more music notes will be spawned (no sound).

I know that I am going to have great trouble whether to buy the Dueling Guitars or the Musical Roof, they both look absolutely fantastic! And I have one more thing I need to tell you about this week! You can now find missing wallets/purses in your friends restaurant when you help them out! You do not always find missing wallets/purses, but make sure you visit your friends in order to see if you can find any!
If you find a missing wallet/purse, you need to post a feed. The feed will be posted not on your wall, but on your friends wall. If your friend chooses to claim his/her missing wallet/purse they will receive 500 coins! And if they at that time chooses to give you a reward for finding the wallet/purse, they can post a feed to your wall where you can accept a 500 coins finders fee! But remember, only you and your friend who are posting the feeds on each others wall can accept the free coins, any other friends who click on the feed will not receive anything. So make sure you check your own profile for missing wallets/purses and finder-fee posts from now on!

The new gifting concept is an interesting one, but could pose a big issue for those of us with few friends. With the ability to only send 1 gift per day to each person, even if I could get all 3 of my active friends to send me 1 gift per day for a week, I still wouldn’t be able to fully outfit my restaurant with the new tables and chairs, much less then get the appropriate number of other items to decorate the way I’d want. With no ability to buy these items separately. I fear feeling like I’m missing out and hindered because most of my friends don’t enjoy playing games that take up the kind of time that Restaurant City does (and while adding RC only friends is an option, it’s one I really hate having to consider). This feeling of being ham stringed by the need for so many “friends” is my BIGGEST complaint about Facebook games in general, and I really dread seeing Restaurant City go down that path, when so far, I’ve never felt very limited. (On a side note, the number of in-game pop-ups that I’m having to close now is really annoying).

After trying to send one of the new “gifts” to my friend, I am no longer having access to my restaurant. I get the front of the store with people walking by, turnung to me and shaking their head ‘no’ to me.

Hi. My problem with the latest additional features is when I find a purse in my friend’s resto, I cannot post to their wall. And my friends have been telling me that they cannot also post to my wall the things they find. But this problem is only for the finding of the purse, and wallet, the new features. I can post the Gourmet King and all the older features. I checked my app settings, and they’re set to “Friends Only”. I hope you can help me. I hear that finding the purse will give more coins. Thanks a lot.

I feel the same way as Valerie, I have on other friend who occasionly plays RC, and i dont want to bother my other friends with come and play so i can get free items “can you send me this and this” i wont do it. So if this keeps up im going to be missing out on a bunch of items, its almost like a waste.

Although I quite like your effort of trying to give us more cash, it is quite annoying as we have to keep up with the pop-ups in the game, especially the wallet/purse thing. It is quite annoying. You can try giving us cash in other way. I like RC because it ain’t annoying and doesn’t need players to post a lot of stuff on FB but now it’s starting to turn that way.

The popups every time I visit a friend’s restaurant and the purses/wallets that are supposed to be posted back and forth on friends’ walls are making me not want to visit friends. The purse/wallets are an interesting concept, but I find they spam friends’ walls, my wall, my friends’ feeds, and my feed. I think the “You didn’t find anything” popup every time I visit a friend’s restaurant after the first two purses/wallets of the day to be unnecessary.
Aside from that, I am enjoying the changes! I hope I did not sound too negative in my feedback above. I remain your game’s fan.

there’s a serious bug that needs to be fixed immediately. the popularity of some ppl’s restaurant will drop while it’s closed (ie: door blocked, same layout/everything as before the update).

Ever since the new update I haven’t been able to get into the game. I get an error message and missing out in the fun. Anyone else having the same problem?

I think you should let some of these events such as rock run longer then a week. It doesn’t allow enough time to get the items People want for the Restaurant. That would solve alot of problems.

I can’t receive some of the gifts my friends gift me. It’s usually the rock items. After I click “accept” and go to my restaurant, the girl with the ponytail pops up and tells me that my level is incorrect. I’m on level 22, and the none of the gifts are locked or anything. Could someone tell me what’s going on?
Anyway, that being said, the Monster Burger is huge
It looked really big when my waiter served it to the customer, almost like the Valentine Cake.

Why is it gifts expire? seems like there is no ryme or reason. One day I can get all gifts from everyone next day every single gift expires…what gives here? The weekends seem to be the worst…..this weekend I did not get one single gift, every single one expired.

Gifting seems to expire for me. My friends would send me a pineapple and the exact same day i would go to accept it and it says my gift has already expired. Is this an issue for anyone else?
